Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Katie Fokas was never one to shy away from any form of artistic activity as a child. She tried her hand at everything from writing and illustrating to songwriting and dance. Performing in her first dance recital at the age of two, she began to amass a hodgepodge of dance costumes which went right to the basement costume rack after each performance was through. The overflowing rack of costumes was always ready to take an average game of "pretend" to the next level or dress an entire cast of cousins for an impromptu, avant-garde-esque performance at a family function. Much of Katie's childhood was spent using her natural creativity to bring to life the ideas flowing through her overactive imagination. Truly the poster child for the phrase “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” she would make costumes for her Barbie dolls out of candy wrappers. Once she could set up a sewing machine herself, she began to take thrifted items and transform them using her existing clothes as patterns. Katie never even thought she'd get the chance to work in the fashion industry without a degree or some form of nepotism. She also never would've thought she'd end up in Dallas, TX of all places and have the opportunity just present itself.

Today she assists wardrobe stylists from all over the country, as well as art directors and prop masters/stylists when the opportunity presents itself. To her every job is a chance to learn and every person on set, an invaluable source of knowledge. She is beyond grateful to have found a home in an industry that values a strong work ethic over a degree and puts her all into every project in hopes of letting that ring true. Recently, she has found work as a wardrobe stylist for indie films and low budget music videos, but continues to seek out opportunities to work under and learn from anyone willing to teach. As a lover of both storytelling and hands-on creating, Katie hopes to find more film and television work and one day earn the title of Costume Designer. Everyday she is still completely mind-blown that she gets paid to do something she loves with her whole being.
